His eyes slightly bulged when she let go of those words. It was a good plan for her future. But how long? Will it take a lifetime, too?
"How long?", he asked.
"I'm not sure yet. Maybe until I find myself again, Chanyeol.", Sulli replied.
Chanyeol was disappointed. There might be a possibility that she won't come back anymore. The stress, the pressure, the sadness and the guilt made her do this. Yes, she badly needs a job for her own sake but leaving South Korea might bring about another change in her life.
"When will you come back? Are you breaking up with me?", Chanyeol's voice became hoarse.
She shook her head. "No, Chanyeol. I'm not breaking up with you. I'll come back. But maybe it'll take a year. I just want to have myself.... cured."
There was an enormous pause of silence between the two of them. Chanyeol feared that Sulli might not be able to come back. He tried to accept it. He looked at her, held her hand and said, "Go on. Do what you want, Sulli."
Sulli hugged him. Chanyeol felt his shoulder was slightly wet. When he looked at Sulli, she was already crying. Chanyeol hugged her tight. When Sulli let go of the hug, Chanyeol made sure to kiss her with passion. He might not be able to kiss her again in the future.
three years later...
Accompanied by two policemen, Kai went out of his cell. He left behind the ugly, discouraged, weak Kim Jong In behind the bars. He was surprised to see his parents waiting for him. Suho was there with Victoria. Kai always told himself to be stronger this time. His father embraced him and apologized for his mistakes. His mother eagerly hugged him.
"Kai... You're finally back. Don't you know how much I miss you? Your father even forced me to go to rehab.", Mrs. Kim said.
"Really? I'm sorry, Mom.", Kai said.
"You're really tall now.", Mrs. Kim tried to reach his son's head.
"He's a fine young man now.", Mr. Kim said.
Suho hugged his brother and ruffled his hair. "No more fighting, okay? You and I are both grown-ups already. You should get a girlfriend soon."
"Sure.", Kai continued, "But I'm not sure about that girlfriend thing yet. I still have to finish my studies."
"He's right. He has goals for himself, too. Do what you want this time, Kai. I'm giving it all to you. But don't abuse this kind of freedom, okay?", Mr. Kim said.
"Trust me, Abeoji. Kai will surely be greater than me.", Suho said.
Seeing Victoria smile, Kai wondered what Victoria was doing together with Suho. Is she a substitute for his "sister", Sulli?
"By the way, Kai... Victoria and I are engaged already.", Suho raised Victoria's hand. There was a big Sapphire ring on her finger.
Kai gasped. "Congratulations! I missed a lot of things, didn't I?"
"Yes. Let's go home, son. The rest of the family is waiting for you.", Mrs. Kim said.
While everyone was busy talking about him, Kai went out of the Kim Manor for awhile to have a little me-time. He looked above the skies and wished that Sang Hyun, his friends and Sulli are also happy wherever they may be. Kai sat down and enjoyed looking at the sky for awhile. When he was about to get inside, he noticed a young woman who stepped outside a sleek Bugatti. A cool car for an awesome girl.
"Kim Kai?"
Kai was surprised. The girl knew him. She looked familiar to him.
"How did you know my name?"
The girl went closer. She wore a leather jacket to protect her from the cold air. Her skinny jeans emphasized the curves of her legs. And her black hair swayed with the wind.
"I helped you get out of jail. I'm Attorney Jung. Jung Krystal. It's nice to meet you. Your brother invited me to the party.", she extended her hand for Kai to shake. Kai shook it gently.
"Nice to meet you too. Thank you. I thought it was Attorney Cho who defended me.", Kai voiced out.
"Yeah. He did. But I helped a lot... behind the scenes.", she winked.
"Let's go inside, shall we?", Kai opened the gate for her.
"Alright."
Krystal's heart may be broken due to Suho's message for her three years ago. But she thought that Victoria also deserves some happiness, now that she knew all of the things her best friends did. She was surprised. She also felt betrayed. Nevertheless, she still had faith on Sulli and Victoria. They're best friends, after all.
She had no plans in meeting the Kims again. But destiny called her. Destiny drove her to meet the younger brother of the man he used to love.
It was a cold morning in New York. Chanyeol decided to go out for a jog together with his pet dog, Ash. He just arrived in New York after receiving an e-mail from an Animations Studio. His comic book will be published soon in New York. And his work of art might be turned into a movie soon.
But that was not the real reason why he went to New York.
For three years, he had this cool-off with Sulli. Sulli still sent him mails and packages during special occassions. But it was not enough for Chanyeol. He got tired of waiting. He didn't want to wait in vain and be brokenhearted.
Ash led Chanyeol in their morning activity. Ash is an intelligent Golden Retriever. While Chanyeol drank his water and took his break, Ash was quite distracted with a lady standing by the corner. Maybe the reason why Ash liked the lady is because of her unusual red hair. Ash licked the lady's feet.
"Hey, Ash. That's bad!", Chanyeol scolded the adorable dog in straight Korean.
Because of this, the lady turned around and pat Ash's head. Chanyeol was extremely shocked to see someone he missed the most.
"S-S-Sulli?"
Sulli looked at him. She was also very shocked. "Hello, Chanyeol.
