Compressive flexion stage 4 and stage 3 injuries have similar radiographic ap- pearances. The chief difference between the two stages is the posterior displacement of the vertebral body fragments into the neural canal, which is only seen in ins stage 4. The degree of posterior displacement is usually small, not more than 3 ent mm. This is usually clinically but CT will determine the number, size mi and location of the various fragments(Fig. of 6.19). Posterior ligamentous damage is to be expected at this stage.
