Many other laws and regulations at the federal, state, and in some cases local level affect employment relationships. At the federal level, these include the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Polygraph Protection Act, which limits the use of lie detectors, the Military Leave Act, the Drug Free Workplace Act, the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, the Pension Reform Act, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA), among others. Many states have enacted similar laws that affect different groups of employees or are more generous or restrictive than federal laws. Likewise, some cities and other local governments have enacted laws and regulations affecting the employment relationship through minimum wages, required insurance coverage, and so on.
