2.1. Substrate/micoorganism
Corn cobs were obtained from a local industry
(Rafhan Maize Products, Faisalabad). They were milled
to 0.5±1 mm particle size and contained 41%, 36%, 7%
and 3.2% cellulose, xylan, lignin, and acetate, respectively.
The yeast strains of S. cerevisiae and C. tropicalis
were obtained from the National Center for Agricultural
Utilization Research (NCAUR, Peoria, Illinois, USA).
