MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police and the Department of Education (DepEd) in Southern Tagalog signed the other day a memorandum of agreement (MOA) formalizing the partnership between the two agencies in bringing to public elementary schools in the region the PNP’s “Pulis Ko Titser Ko” Program.
Calabarzon police director Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr. and Region 4-A DepEd Director Paraluman Giron signed the MOA at Camp Vicente Lim, Canlubang, Calamba City. The MOA calls for collaboration between the PNP and DepEd in formulating a Grade 4 curriculum and the teaching methodology to be used in its implementation.
“Pulis Ko Titser Ko” Program is a strategic school-based crime awareness project of PNP and DepEd wherein policemen from different units in CALABARZON who were former teachers or graduates of Bachelor of Science in Education (BSEd) would conduct 20 to 30 minutes lectures to Grade 4 pupils at selected public elementary schools about crime prevention awareness, child safety, welfare and development, and lectures on patriotism, nationalism, and other topics.
The program aims to enhance the moral foundation of young students and strengthen their resistance to crime so that they will become productive, responsible and law abiding citizens in the future.
The “Pulis Ko Titser Ko” Program in Southern Tagalog is expected to be simultaneously implemented in cities and municipalities throughout CALABARZON. The PNP, in cooperation with the DepEd in Region 4-A, will select one public elementary school program recipient in every municipality.
Pagdilao said that the signing of MOA is a great leap to the PRO4-A’s strategic campaign against crime because it will effectively prevent children from falling into the hands of criminals through efforts that transcend ordinary police work.
