Feeding DDGS to Broilers
Researchers have consistently observed positive performance and meat quality results when
DDGS is added to broiler diets. Results from an early study by Day et al. (1972) showed that
weight gain of broilers was increased when low levels of DDGS (2.5 and 5%) were added to the
diet compared to broilers fed the control diet. Later, Waldroup et al. (1981) demonstrated that
DDGS can be added to broiler diets at levels up to 25% to achieve good performance if dietary
energy level is held constant.
