Autoclaves are widely used in medical settings for their high
level of sterilization [1,2], but are currently very large and contain electrical mantle heaters that are slow to elevate
intravessel temperature and pressure, and so are unsuitable
for small spaces. ‘Flash’ autoclaves are smaller and offer
shorter sterilization cycles compared with full functional
autoclaves, but do not offer medical-grade sterilization [7,8].
