Electrical conductance and gas temperature measurements are reported for cylindrical, wall-stabilized arcs during the current-zero period. Two different current waveforms have been investigated: a sinusoidal current waveform, and a steady current which is reversed gradually to an equal and opposite steady value by the superimposition of an exponential current waveform
