The tubes containing 20 mL of solution
were centrifuged (7000 rpm, 10 min, 4 °C), and the supernatant was
separated from the precipitate. The precipitate was resuspended in an
additional 5 mL of Milli-Q water, and vortexed and centrifuged as described
above. The final volume of 25 mL of diluted pulpwas centrifuged,
and 2 mL of supernatant was filtered through a 0.22 μm membrane
(Millipore) for the HPLC analysis of sugars, alcohols and organic acids
