Management Information Systems" is a specialized core
course in university management classes. It is a comprehensive
course both theoretical and practical also is "bridge" course
between management science and information technology. The
course is of marginal, cross-disciplinary nature, and the
learning process is a combination of concepts and methods of
management science, computer science, communications
technology, systems science and other subjects. Due to the
high-span, wide-coverage, Theory-demanding, highly-practical
character of its contents, this course requires students to master
not only the theoretical knowledge of management information
systems, but also the ability to applying it in practice. In
traditional teaching process, we always center teachers, mainly
teachers teaching, students receiving, overlook students' role as
a cognitive subject in the mean time. This often led to low
interest, a lack of initiative, low efficiency of students in
learning process. Therefore, in order to achieve better teaching
effect, the reform of course teaching is imperative. "Taskdriven"
approach is a model of driving teaching by way of
accomplishment of task, it enables students to have fun in
every accomplishment of task through progressive task
arrangement which fully and effectively improves students’
interest in learning, and enhances their hands-on
ability. Through deep research into the course of "management
information system", using "task-driven" teaching method in
teaching process, a great deal of practice and innovation
taking, we achieve certain effect in teaching, also propose
further thinking to improve this teaching method.
II. ANALYSIS OF CURRENT SITUATION OF "MANAGEMENT
INFORMATION SYSTEM"
"Management Information Systems" has been regarded as
one of the core curriculum of management classes in the past
few years. But such important course as it is, when come into
using; the course still has many problems. In the teaching
process, teachers find it difficult to teach, and students find it
difficult to learn. In terms of its content, the course itself is very
abstract, highly theoretical, and has wide coverage. It is boring
and difficult to understand for students. Meanwhile, teachers
who teach the course also think that the management
information system involves so extensive knowledge that it is
hard to give a thorough lesson. Therefore, despite that teachers
teach in earnest, the overall teaching effect is not
satisfactory. It is imperative to carry out reform aiming at
improving the situation of management information system
teaching, make a teaching model combined theory, techniques
organically with methods come true.
After a long teaching and research period, we find the
following problems in teaching process.
A. Single Teaching contents and requirements
"Management Information Systems" courses opened in
colleges and universities always include professional
management class, accounting class, Information Management
and other majors. The textbooks are almost the same in
contents arrangement, basically divided into four parts, basic
theory, basic technology, system development process, system
administration and application. This kind of arrangement
always leads to two results due to its lack of focus in students
of different major. Firstly, students of economy management
major only have a basic knowledge of computers, find its
curriculum design too difficult; Secondly, students of computer
major find the curriculum too theoretical, be out of line with
practice. Thus, in the teaching process, selecting different
teaching contents according to different major character,
putting emphasis on different parts, will make teaching task
easy to fulfill.
B. single teaching method
The teaching process of "Management Information
Systems" is mainly about teachers to teach , most of the
