Every Olympics has a torch relay. The Beijing relay set a new record. It was the longest ever. One of my dad's friends ran in the relay. He told 5 me something I didn't know. After each runner finishes, Olympic officials take the torch and remove the gas container. Then they return the torch to the runner. This way, the runners can keep their torches. But they can't relight them.
