Compared with the literature data compiled by Eriksson
et al. (2002), the alkalinity of the settled greywater used in this
study was higher than some bathroom greywaters (0.2–
0.4 mM) but similar to laundry greywaters (0.8–2 mM); its
chloride concentration was within the range of laundry greywaters
(0.25–2.5 mM) and slightly higher than those from the
bathroom (0.25–0.5 mM). To determine the extent to which the
treatment may be impaired by the presence of CO3 2/HCO3
,
NaHCO3 was added so that the cT was 3, 10, 20 and 100 mM
respectively, and the pH was adjusted to 10 with NaOH.
