The authors developed standards that were felt to be essential
while realizing that others may organize them differently
or include other valid care standards. This is a process and an
opportunity to refine and define transcultural nursing practice.
Although the standards may be most useful to nurses in
clinical practice, they may also serve as an additional basis for
transcultural nursing curriculum development, program
accreditation, health care organization accreditation, and
research. The authors invite other nurses to dialogue with
them on the development of these standards.
