The presence of gossypol, cyclopropenoid fatty acids and aflatoxin in cottonseed limit its use as a protein supplement in animal feed except for cattle, which cannot be affected by these components. Inactivation/removal of these components during processing enables the use of some cottonseed meal for catfish, poultry and swine.
