Methods
Survey method, a non-experimental quantitative research, is employed as the research
method. Total of 474 teachers working at the primary schools in the Erzurum City center were
selected on the basis of voluntary participation out of total of 1470 teachers. The study was
carried out at 2011-2012 educational year, and teachers who teach at grades 6 to 8 were
participated the study from 68 different primary schools (11 schools from Aziziye, 31 schools
from Yakutiye and 26 schools from Palandöken districts). Data were collected through a
questionnaire developed by the researchers. Quantitative data were analyzed through
descriptive and inferential statistical and the results are presented descriptively. To analyze
the effect of gender and branch on frequency and efficiency of using assessment and
evaluation methods, Mann Whitney U test is used; and to analyze the effect of years of
teaching experience on frequency and efficiency of using assessment and evaluation methods,
Kruskal Wallis H test is used. Besides, to test the relationship between the frequency and
efficiency of using assessment and evaluation tools and methods Spearman’s rho is used.
