The International Maritime Safety Committee approved a new Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) law, effective July 1, 2016, concerning container weight requirements. The law will require a Verified Gross Mass (VGM) to be reported to the carrier prior to container arriving at container terminal.

Please make sure all weights (packaging+cartons+skids+supply+container bracing material) reported on the BOL are accurate and submitted to our freight forwarder origin office five (5) working days prior to the container arriving at your door for loading. To calculate the VGM, our freight forwarder will add the reported BOL weight with the container's tare weight. Our freight forwarder will report the VGM to the carrier.
