In vitro assay of fungitoxic substances present in cassava stem cortex
Cassava stem cortex extracts from tropical manihot species (TMS ) 91/003 44; 91/003 13; 30001; 30572; 30211; 88/006 95; 91/006 84; 91/00475; 88/02549 and 88/013 36 were investigated . The inhibitory effect of the extracts was evaluated by measuring the mycelial growth, sporulation and spore germination of C. gloeos porioides f. sp. Manihotis isolates (05FC N, 10FCN, 12F CN and18F CN), on amended PDA media , using standard procedures of Kiraly et al. (1974) . The control medium was PDA. The spore germination was recorded for 100 spores of each isolate after 16 h, for each extract treatment and compared to the germination in the control. Mycelial growth an d sporulation were recorded using the standard procedures described by Tuite (1969). The relative percent age of spore germination was calculated.
