Another invention of great distinction, patented in 2007, and of enormous benefits to the country, is the Royal Rain. The artificial rainmaking is, in His Majesty’s own words, “a technology or scientific procedure to condition the air so that cloud would build up and produce rain”. His Majesty had personally devised rain-inducing chemical formulas for seeding clouds in the rainmaking process. He had conducted the experiments and research himself until the project became a model of excellence. For more than 40 years now the Royal Rain Program has been working wonders in reducing the drought problems and their damages all over Thailand. This “Weather Modification by Royal Rainmaking Techniques” was granted 2 more patents by the European Patent Office (EPO) in 2005, and the Intellectual Property Department of Hong Kong in 2006.
