This is a period of nine days which is observed every year to uphold the principle of austerity that the Jains strongly believe in. People often restrict themselves to partaking of a single meal each day during this period that too consisting of simple food. Special prayers known as Siddhachakra Mahapujan or Navpad Mandal Puja are organized.
