4 Impact of leaf litter selection on larval development time
and resistance to Bti toxins
Resistance levels of LiTOX larvae exhibiting a slow larval
development phenotype (LiTOX S larvae) to Cry toxins were
compared with resistance levels obtained from normal LiTOX
larvae (Fig. 2). Considering 95% confidence intervals of resistance
ratios, no significant differences in resistance levels to Cry4B
and Cry11A were found between the two LiTOX phenotypes. In contrast, LiTOX S larvae were significantly less resistant to Cry4A
than normal LiTOX larvae (1.6-fold versus 30.2-fold compared with
the Bora-Bora strain), suggesting that the two LiTOX phenotypes
have different genotypes regarding Cry4A resistance.
