It is important to research the links between home and school especially in regards to cultural values and beliefs relating to defining challenging behaviours and the consequences for misbehaviour in the beginning years of a students schooling. Teacher participants indicated in this research that the students who occasionally come to school emotionally unable to cope with being in a classroom for the day present challenging behaviours that impact negatively on the learning of everybody. Better links between home and school, might enable teachers to anticipate emerging problem behaviour and plan to minimise impact on other students.
