pressure could influence cell growth and metabolites production
(Garg and Jain, 1995; Qin et al., 2009; Wang et al., 2010b). In this
study, both the consumption rate of glucose and the yield of L-lactic
acid were investigated (Figs. 2 and 3). There was no obviously inhibition
under the tested initial glucose concentrations and 52.6–
66.1 g l1 L-lactic acid was produced in 72 h. When the glucose concentration
was between 120 and 180 g l1, although the production
of L-lactic acid was slightly higher than other initial glucose concentration,
the yield of L-lactic acid was much lower. Therefore, initial
glucose concentration below 100 g l1 was further investigated in
the following experiments.
