3. Experimental results
3.1. Data collection
A total of 530 oyster samples were collected for this study. These samples include 74 banana shape samples similar to the
samples shown in Fig. 9(a), 107 irregular shape samples as shown in Fig. 9(b), and 349 good quality shape samples as shown in Fig. 9(c). The good quality shape samples can further be categorized into large, medium, and small, which can simply be measured using the number of pixels and selecting desired cut-off values for different sizes. All samples were imaged and segmented to extract contours for analysis as discussed in Sections 2.3 and 2.4.
