Is Summer Really Better Than Winter? I Think Not. The weather is so much cooler, and if it gets too hot in all the layers of clothes, it is easy to just take some layers off. However, during the summer, there are no layers to take off! During the summer, yes it is nice and warm, but it can get too warm! If one does not apply enough sunscreen every 20 minutes they would get sunburned. When trying to fall asleep, with the covers off since its too hot to sleep with them on, one can hear the annoying high-pitched noise mosquitos make somewhere in the darkness. During summer nights, mosquitos are biting everyone but the lucky sour blooded people that do not interest them. Furthermore during the day there are flies on all the food and ants trying to steal the crumbs.
During the winter, it is nice and quiet, except for the occasional pitter-patter of the rain outside. And if you in a place with snow, lucky you, school and roads get closed due to snow. On those super snowy days, many people make super creative things out of snow, or if they do not like the cold, they go sit by the roaring fire drinking hot chocolate. And if you are like me and do not like to sit still, snowboarding or skiing is a good way to stay active. After being out in the cold, a warm lunch can cheer a person up. A nice warm bowl of whatever you want, getting the warmth back into your body after being out in the cold all day. During the winter it’s always easier to get warmer than getting colder during the summer.
Although winter might make your nose stuffy, it’s actually the summer months that make you have the worst of colds. “A winter cold is nasty, brutish and short… But summer colds tend to linger. They can go on for weeks and reoccur.” North Shore University Hospital infectious disease expert Dr. Bruce Hirsch shared the difference between winter colds and their summer equivalent.
“Winter colds may occur more frequently than summer colds because colder weather and lack of sunlight decreases the body's immunity, says Dr. Eccles. But both types of virus thrive where large numbers of people gather, such as schools, public transportation, sports games and airlines flights” quotes Wall Street journalist Angela Chen.
Another pro of winter is that if you’re in a relationship, cuddling is great. However, during the summer, cuddling gets hot, sweaty, and sticky very fast. Plus, if you want a movie moment with your significant other, kiss them in the pouring rain. Then go home and snuggle up by the fire with a warm beverage warming your frozen, wet bodies.
