Mendick is serving his first term in the Albany County Legislature as the representative of residents of the 36th Legislative District. The district consists of the southern portion of the Town of Bethlehem including Selkirk, South Bethlehem, a section of Glenmont and part of the Town of Coeymans.
He has over 30 years of business experience, starting with the Auditing firm of Ernst & Young, then moving on to management positions with the Times Mirror Company, and its subsidiaries, Los Angeles Times, Denver Post and Matthew Bender and Company. Before retiring, Rich served as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for a national distributor of safety products. He is a small business owner providing consulting services. Rich has taught Adult Education programs for the Bethlehem, South Colonie, Ravena and Scotia-Glenville school districts.
Rich received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from California Polytechnic University in Pomona, California and his Masters of Business Administration from University of Denver, Daniel School of Business in Denver, Colorado. He has been a member of the Institute of Management Accounting for over 25 years and is a Certified Management Accountant.
Rich served in the Marine Corps from 1970-1972.
He and his wife Nancy, who is the Receiver of Taxes for the Town of Bethlehem, call Selkirk their home. They have five adult children in their blended family and three grandchildren with a fourth due in February 2008. His hobbies are kayaking, fishing and dancing.
