Fresh button mushrooms (the mushroom caps were closed, and
had diameters of about 5 cm) were purchased from a local market
(Nanjing, China). The mushrooms were rinsed followed by removal
of stems and sliced with a mushroom slicer (MSC International Co.,
Montreal, Canada) to a thickness of 5 mm.
