Read the passage carefully. Then answer the questions that follow.
The River Nile is a very famous river. There would be no ancient Egypt without this river. The river overflowed into the areas around it very regularly. It supplied the first hunters with the necessary water for themselves and their animals. Food was growing so abundantly in and around the river ghat there was plenty to spare. After discovering this river, the first hunters need not have to wander around looking for food and water. There was always enough grass for their animals. There were lots of animals for them to catch too. Besides grass,they also discovered wild barley growing near the river. Crops of barley were later planted in the wet river mud. Soon, barley became an important part of their diet. They made bread and beer from barley.
The hunters built houses of reeds and mud. They became farmers and stayed near their crops. The womenfolk learnt to make pots and wicker baskets. They made jewelry and ornaments from shells.
The farmers kept their cattle for leather cattle for lesther and milk. They lived close together in villages. They had a chief to lead them in war and prayers to their gods.
Soon the farmers became rich and rebuilt their houses with bricks. Their grains were taken by ships to other countries to be traded for jewelry and tools of copper.
