Dear all,
With regards to the issue (last week) of LKB VDC keeping a pregnant rat within the premises, do allow me to offer an explanation after some findings from my recent trip to Thailand LKB VDC.
Since 2 – 3 weeks ago, rat traps (cage-trap) were set-up at different locations within the VDC compound to counter the problem of rats biting interior parts and pipings of the vehicles. It was successful and managed to trap some rats. The rats are then killed inside the cage by using high-pressure water jets.
However, on one occasion it was found that a rat (trapped) was pregnant and the staff in-charge of killing rats was unable to kill the pregnant rat due to religious reasons. The rat gave birth to 2 baby rats. However they were thereafter transported far away from TCMA and were let go.
Currently the extermination of rats is still done via the high-pressure water jet.
I have done an inspection in the VDC and found no cases of keeping of rats.
Attached are pictures taken during inspection of the VDC.
