According to Krachler et al. [3], for the last 30 years Arctic snow and ice have recorded a 50% increase in Sb accumulation, mainly from anthropogenic sources[4]. Actually, it has been estimated that the total remaining world pool of Sb is equivalent to about 12 years of consumption at the current anthropogenic rhythm [5]. Antimony is used in numerous human activities, including smelting and mining, but its use as a fire retardant is the most important [6].
