Optimistic scenario: the waste would be sorted as in EU member states having highly developed separate collection systems of recyclables. In such a case, the amount of separately collected recyclables would grow gradually from
65.1 kg in 2008 (assuming that separation efficiency had already reached Western European levels) to 114.8 kg in 2017, as indicated in Table 3. Although this scenario seems unrealistic, it serves the purpose of identifying of the impact of high separation levels on energy and environmental aspects of waste incineration.
