Okayama Prefecture, and especially Mimasaka City where our ryokan is, often gets skipped by those visiting the Kansai area and Hiroshima, which are more touristic and well known to overseas travellers. And yet, more adventurous types who choose to travel off the beaten path may find themselves with us thoroughly embraced by the deep appreciation for life and the refined aesthetic sensibilities with which the local people have lived for centuries. Also in contrast to the cultural heritages of Kyoto which is typically characterized by its court culture, Okayama can lay claim to a strong association with traditional samurai culture. We would like to invite you to
have a glimpse of the “other” Japan and have a visceral experience which we hope will give you a fresh perspective on life.
