2.10. Oil extraction from papaya seeds
2.10.1. Soxhlet extraction (SE)
SE was performed in triplicate with a Soxhlet apparatus, during
which each 10 g of papaya seed was refluxed with 200 mL of nhexane
for 6 h at a maximum temperature of 70 C in a Soxhlet
apparatus. After the extraction was completed, n-hexane was
removed at 40 C under reduced pressure using a rotary evaporator
(Büchi RE12, Flawil, Switzerland). The flask was subsequently
placed in a desiccator chamber for 1 h to remove the residual nhexane.
The resulting oil was weighed and the yield was calculated.
This determination was performed in triplicate.
