Fig. 8 shows an example using the proposed adaptive
thresholding algorithm. The image shown in Fig. 8a is an
original X-ray image of a peach after background removal.
Applying the above adaptive thresholding algorithm, a threshold
value map is generated, as shown in Fig. 8b. It is obvious
that the threshold value map is variable and dependent on
the local grey level distribution of the original X-ray image.
Fig. 9 illustrates a typical example of the sequential steps of
the complete image segmentation process of a citrus X-ray
image. Fig. 9c is the binary image of Fig. 9b after applying the
adaptive thresholding.
