As a Muslim country, there are a number of religious rules which should be obeyed by everyone in Pakistani, including both dress and behavioral rules. The Pakistanis wear a large number of clothing items, including western clothes, local clothing, as well as more traditional clothing made of loose fitting shirts and pants or a single cloth wrapped to cover one's self. The commonality among these items is that, as a Muslim country, the clothing must cover nearly all skin. Arms and legs must be completely covered and women should have their heads covered as well. As a foreigner in Pakistani, these dress regulations are nearly identical. Although western clothing is accepted, you should cover your arms and legs completely and women should cover their heads. For women traveling to Pakistani, it is easiest to travel with their husband, father, or brother. Single women travelers are looked at oddly and traveling with a man who is not related or married to you is widely considered inappropriate. Pretending you are married is not right, but most Pakistanis would consider it less offensive than a single man and women traveling together. It is also improper for a man to touch a woman, even holding your wife's hand or offering to shake a local woman's hand can be considered inappropriate to a strict Muslim. Islamic law forbids pork products and alcohol, however there is little worry about adhering to these rules since neither is available anywhere in Pakistan. You should note that attempting to take either into the country is also strictly forbidden.
