Zico's English gets a little help

Lecturer Tawich Jitsomboon from Suranaree Technology University’s engineering faculty is being rightly hammered in the social media for comparing national football coach Kiatisak "Zico" Senamuang’s English accent to that of Pattaya prostitutes. He should have a translator, Mr Tawich said.

I disagree. Coach Kiatisak's English is far from perfect but he gets his points across easily and he should be encouraged, not discouraged, to use the language more.

Let's give him a little help. Most English language interviews that he will have to do in the future will take place before or after a match. The topics will be limited, so he can easily learn the basics of what he needs to say.

Here is an example from a pre-match interview he did in Malaysia last Friday before his Thai team went on to win the AFF Suzuki Cup.
