3.2. Effects of processing parameters on heating/
cooling efficiency
The effects of various processing parameters,
including charge weight, oven temperature, mold
rotational speed and cooling conditions, on the
HTR and the CTR of parts molded were studied.
The in-mold temperature profiles were recorded and
the HTR and CTR of each specimen were
calculated according to Eqs. (1) and (2). In addition,
to understand the effects of various processing
parameters on the heating/cooling efficiency of
molded parts, one processing condition (the bolded
ones in Table 3) was chosen as a reference. By
changing one of the parameters in each test, we were
able to understand the effect of every factor on the
heat transfer rates of the rotational molding
process.
