Treat your hair twice a week for four weeks with this at home castor oil and egg hair mask, and the results after just one treatment will make you happy that you tried it. Even just halfway through the month your hair will be softer and stronger, your scalp will be happier, and you’ll feel (and see) improvements in softness and shine.
What you need:
1 teaspoon of vinegar
1 teaspoon of glycerin
1 egg (beaten)
2 tablespoons of castor oil
a shower cap or plastic wrap
Mixing:
In a small bowl, mix glycerin and vinegar. Blend until smooth. Add the already beaten egg to the glycerin and vinegar and mix, then add in the castor oil and thoroughly blend until mixture is smooth in consistency.
Application:
Before applying hair mask, divide your hair into two sections by parting your hair down the middle as if you’re going to put your hair into pig tails. Pick one side to start with and secure the other with a hair tie so it is out of your way while you work. You’ll find that separating your hair into sections and working on them one by one really helps keep the application process smooth and clean. Now, to apply, scoop a little bit of the mask into your hands and start by massaging it into your scalp. Keep applying more of the mask until your entire scalp area of that section is covered and then start applying the mask down the length of all your strands in that section. Once all your hair on that side has the mask mixture applied to it, twist it into a small bun and secure with a pin or hair tie and move to the next section. Repeat the process on the opposite side and then remove the hair tie from your previous section so that you can secure your hair into one bun or ponytail before covering it with a shower cap (or plastic wrap) and then wrapping your head in a towel. Covering your hair with a shower cap and wrapping it up in a towel creates a warm environment that allows your hair shaft and follicles to open up and absorb the mask better allowing for better results. Leave mask in hair for 2 hours and then wash out, shampooing and conditioning as normal. You can choose to use latex or plastic gloves, or a hair color application brush to apply this mask to the hair, but using your bare hands is just fine if you don’t mind washing them afterwards. This mask should be done twice a week for one month every four or six months.
