Cargolux’s fleet is becoming increasingly quiet. Our current aircraft type, the Boeing 747-400F, emits substantially less noise than its predecessor, the 747-200F, which was phased out of our fleet in 1998. The 747-400F’s footprint at 85 dB is up to 50% smaller than that of the 747-200F. Since we began our fleet roll-over in 2011, Cargolux’s aircraft are becoming even quieter. In October 2011, Cargolux started operating the Boeing 747-8 freighter and will gradually dispose of its 747-400Fs. In doing so, Cargolux sets a new benchmark in terms of quiet air cargo operations. The 747-8F’s footprint at 85 dB is further reduced by about 30%, compared to its predecessor.
