An extract of the dried twigs of M. bracteata was subjected to
Diaion HP 20 column chromatography. The EtOH/H2O eluate
was subjected to a combination of chromatographic steps on
Toyopearl HW-40 and MCI-gel CHP-20P gels, followed mainly
by HPLC purification to afford three new hellinoyl-type tannins,
bracteatinins D1 (1), D2 (2), and T1 (3). Additionally, nine
known tannins were obtained from the genus Myricaria for the
first time, and their structures were identified by spectroscopic
data analysis and comparison to literature values. Furthermore,
the 13C NMR spectroscopic assignments of hirtellin E (8) and
hirtellin T3 (12) are reported for the first time.
