Welcome to the Department of Agro-Industry at Naresuan University. Our department serves the needs of study and research with high quality laboratories and equipment. We have continuously produced graduates who possess both academic and practical experiences in the field of agro-industry, especially in food science and technology.
We are proud of our strong graduate programs in Food Science and Technology both at master’s and doctoral levels. Our good reputation is confirmed through high quality technical presentations in international conferences, scientific conventions, and both national and international publications.
As presented in the faculty profiles, expertise among our faculty is diverse and comprehensive, covering broad areas, such as food chemistry, food processing and engineering, food microbiology and food safety, food product development, food biotechnology, and food nutrition and packaging. Our missions not only focus on instruction and research but also consultancy and outreach programs. Our faculty members are well-known for their willingness to nurture capable students through participation in their commissioned research project as part of the student’s own thesis. These efforts, therefore, have led to a number of international publications and patents over the past decade. Our faculty members also have established close and strong relationships with professors in leading US, European, Asian, and Australian universities and research institutes.
As for recognition and significant partnerships, our department is honored to be a member of several professional consortiums and associations, such as the Thailand Agro-Industry Academic Council Association (AIAC). Moreover, in the capacity of a committee member on the AIAC Board, our department is kept abreast of up-to-date activities. In addition, we also signed MOUs with the leading food industry companies, such as CEO Agrifood Co. Ltd, WGC Co. Ltd., and Oryza Oil and Fat Chemical Co. Ltd. (Japan). Regarding the MOUs, our staff and students have received research funding and scholarships on a continuous basis.
One of our great advantages as compared to other universities offering programs in Food Science and Technology is the location. We are situated in the hub of thriving primary agricultural production for consumption both at home and abroad. Additionally, as a department under the Faculty of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, we are closely related to other departments and together we can make a big difference in our field with collective efforts.
