In order to make usable and intuitive user interfaces, the blocks of
complex technology should be hidden from the user. Since
context-awareness employs uncertainties, sensor fusion, and
complex inferring, the reasoning about what circumstances have
lead to a certain device action or triggered a certain feature may
become hard from the user’s point of view. With poor design, it
may be difficult for the user to conclude why the device behaves
as it does. If a successful overall design is achieved, these kind
problems should not appear or at least their effect is minimized.
This emphasizes the role of careful system, application and user
interface design.
