Reproductive toxicity studies, including multigenerational studies, have been performed in rats and rabbits at doses of up to 11 times the anticipated
human dose (1.43 mg/kg per treatment cycle) and
have revealed no evidence of impaired fertility or
harm to the experimental animal foetus caused by
intra-articular injections of hyaluronate sodium.
