As shown in Figure 8(b), the results showed that ultimate load
of strengthened beams with two layer of CFRP sheets
provided insignificant increase in strength control to the
control beam and strengthened beam with one layer CFRP
sheets, due to delaminating of CFRP sheets. The strength of
B-2L has increased 16% with respect to control beam and 7%
over the B-1L, respectively.
The comparison of the beam performance between those
strengthened with NSM GFRP bar/s and those with EB CFRP
sheet/s is also illustrated in Figure 9. The results revealed that
adding another layer of CFRP sheet did not significantly
enhance the strength capacity of the beam. The increase of
strength capacity of the beam specimens strengthened with
two (2) bars of NSM GFRP bars recorded about 38%
corresponding to that beam specimens strengthened with two
(2) layers of EB CFRP sheet. Moreover, the beam specimens
strengthened with NSM GFRP bars recorded smaller
maximum deflection and higher stiffness as compared with
those of CFRP sheet.
