Components of the Plan
Because the business plan is such an important document, it should be arranged logically
and presented clearly to save the reader time and effort, as well as to ensure understanding.
While the information that should be included tends to be standardized, the format to be
used is not. (Figure 6.8 presents a typical format.)
Regardless of the specific format chosen, any plan should include at least the following elements: cover sheet, executive summary, table of contents, history of the (proposed)
business, description of the business, definition of the market, description of the product(s),
management structure, objectives and goals, financial data, and appendixes.
