After marching for four hours, protesters led by former Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban decided to stay overnight at the Government Complex Wednesday night before moving on to their next rallying point.
From 9am, Suthep led protesters in their march to the Government Complex on Chaeng Wattana Road from the Finance Ministry on Rama VI Road.
Members of a motorcycle convoy at the vanguard of the protest on Chaeng Wattana Road blew whistles and shook rattles - providing atmosphere and moral support for the marchers along the way.
The protesters arrived at the Government Complex in the afternoon.
Thousands of people rallied in front of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) office near the Justice Ministry at the Government Complex. The DSI closed its doors at 11am as director-general Tarit Pengdith went to work at the Parliament to help Justice Minister Chaikasem Nitisiri set up a war room.
Passersby stopped by to join the protest against the department, complaining about charges it had pressed over Suthep's role in the demonstrations.
