Only twoSalmonellaserotypes were shared by humans and eggs;
S. Infantis and STM 135 (Table 4). The overlap represented only 6.5%
(2/31) of all the serotypes identified in human cases, but 40% of the
five serotypes identified in egg samples. Of the 94 study participants,
22 (23.4%) had salmonellosis which was from a serotype also isolated
from an egg sample; however only 11 (50%) of these participants
indicated they had consumed eggs in the week before illness onset
