So many unique, edgy gowns graced the stage during the preliminary competition of the Miss Grand Thailand pageant. One gown in particular really caught my attention.
The Color
This magenta hue is absolutely stunning against her fair complexion. It is bright and projects warmth, yet remains sophisticated!
The Neckline
While I love the shape of this angular sweetheart neckline, a part of me does feel as though it needs to be one size up. There is a lack of coverage, and even though I don’t think it’s overtly sexy – I do think it simply looks too small and doesn’t flatter the way it could.
The Skirt
Hmmmmm…. we see feathers on skirts, but why not more fringe? These long groups of fringe are an interesting touch, but I don’t necessarily love the execution given the contrasting color and blunt ends. I am curious to see what the gown would look like with fringe the same shade as the base of the gown – just to add some additional texture and movement. Aside from the color of the fringe, the blunt edges are detracting from the otherwise sophisticated silhouette.
The zig zag beading is another effect that with tweaking could be a nice touch, I just wish it was more seamlessly integrated into the overall design.
The Verdict
Unfortunately, the fringe is too distracting for me to overcome being a MISS. Again, I would be curious to see some of these elements in different ways – it is ALMOST there but would benefit from some changes.
