The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festiva

The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival was selected as one of the Seven Wonders of Winter by travel sites, CNNGo and Lonely Planet. When the Hwacheoncheon Stream freezes in the winter people carve out a hole in the ice and begin to fish for “sancheoneo,” mountain trout. In addition to ice fishing, locals and visitors can also enjoy ice-skating, snow sledding, sleigh race, snowmobile riding, and a few other ice related activities.
