Cam. sinensis var. assamica contains a high proportion of linalool and some clones have a TI of ca. 1.0. In contrast, some Cam. sinensis var. sinensis cultivars contain very little linalool and have a TI as low as 0.1 Highest quality Sen-cha tea is made from the first crop(spring har vested), which has a high content of L-theanine and other amino acids and a relatively low content of catechols. As the season pro- gresses, the amino acid content falls and the catechol content rises and this is reflected in decreasing quality of the made tea
