infiltration or prior the uniform tissue collapse (cell death) of the infiltrated
area. Expressed proteins were visualized by probing the blot with an
anti-hemagglutinin-HRP conjugate. Most of the substitutions were expressed
to a level similar to wild-type TIR+80. Low amounts of E111K
and E134K were reproducibly observed and correlated with strong cell
death elicitation by these mutant forms. Equal protein loading was confirmed
by staining membranes with the Ponceau S dye (not shown).
